‍The information we collect

‍When you contact us — through the enquiry form on this site, by email, or by phone — we receive whatever you choose to share with us: typically your name, email address, organisation, phone number, and the content of your message.

‍When you book us — if an enquiry becomes a booking, we'll also hold the details needed to deliver the engagement and invoice for it: contact details for you and your organisation, event details, and billing information. If you send us a testimonial or recommendation, we may seek your authorisation to add this to our website and other assets for example speaker profiles.

‍When you browse this site — our website is hosted by Squarespace, which uses a small number of cookies to make the site function and to give us anonymous visitor statistics (such as page views and general location). See "Cookies" below.

‍We do not collect any more than we need, and we never buy, sell, or rent personal information.‍

How we use it, and our lawful basis

‍Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), we need a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are:‍ ‍

• Responding to your enquiry — it's in our legitimate interest (and yours) to reply when you contact us.

• Delivering a booking — where we have a contract with you, we use your details to perform it (scheduling, delivery, and follow-up).

• Invoicing and accounts — we keep billing records because the law requires us to (legal obligation).

• Improving the website — anonymous visitor statistics help us understand what's useful (legitimate interest).

‍We do not do any marketing mailshots from this website. If you would like to receive our newsletter, that lives on Substack, which you may subscribe to directly and unsubscribe at any time without your email address being added to any other mailing list.‍

Who we share it with

‍We do not sell or trade your information with anyone. Like most small businesses, we use a few trusted service providers who process data on our behalf: ‍ ‍

• Squarespace — website hosting and the enquiry form

• Google Workspace — our email and calendar

• Xero — invoicing and accounts

‍Each of these providers is contractually bound to protect your data. Some are based in, or store data in, the United States; where that happens, transfers are protected by UK-approved safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

‍We would also disclose information if the law required us to.‍ ‍

How long we keep it‍ ‍

• Enquiries that do not lead to a booking — up to three years, in case you come back to us, then deleted.

• Booking and client records — for the life of our working relationship and a reasonable period afterwards.

• Invoices and accounting records — six years after the end of the relevant financial year, as UK tax law requires.‍ ‍

Your rights

‍You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. You can exercise any of these rights by emailing charlie@ausomeminds.co.uk — we'll respond within one month.

‍If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would, however, appreciate the opportunity to put things right first.‍

‍ This site uses a small number of cookies:‍ ‍

• Essential cookies set by Squarespace, which make the site work (security, load balancing, remembering your cookie preferences). These can't be switched off.

• Analytics cookies set by Squarespace, which give us anonymous statistics about how the site is used.

• Third-party cookies from embedded content — our showreel is embedded from YouTube, which may set its own cookies when you play it. YouTube's use of cookies is covered by Google's privacy policy.
